Department of Oncology

Department of Oncology

Due to a spurt in the number of cancer patients and lack of medical facilities in the region, CAPITOL has a multidisciplinary treatment and rehabilitation center which offers various services, from screening and early detection to the possible cure of most deadly diseases.

The Department of Oncology has five wings

(a). Radiation Oncology

The Radiation Oncology Department provides state-of-the-art radiation treatment to cancer patients with high precision and other exclusive features such as 6-D couch rotation for better positioning, and respiratory gating. The department is well equipped with an advanced linear accelerator TrueBeam with a 6MV, 9MV, 12MV, and 15MV photon energy and electron facility. This machine has the capability of delivering a wide array of treatment techniques like 3-DCRT, IMRT, IGRT, and RapidArc. The machine has high definition multileaf collimators, a CT simulator, treatment planning computers, and mould room facilities to precisely and accurately treat the cancer cells. We have a 24-channel High-dose-rate remote after loading brachytherapy machine for internal radiation treatment. All oncological patients are discussed in the multidisciplinary tumor board to make a unanimous decision. The hospital is running hospital-based cancer registry program by ICMR and a Post-graduate teaching programme-DNB Radiation Oncology.
